Self respect beyond body

The whole house was gossiping.Every room was packed with relatives talking about the incident.Everyone was clueless as no one expected that the marriage will not take place.

"Could it be some dowry issue?"asked Badi buaji."No didi it was a love marriage,dowry can't be a issue."replied mami packing her bags.

Ma was getting more and more depressed after listening all this.She went to her room and was shocked to see Anu sipping cold drink in her night suit."You silly girl,full family is talking about your marriage,we all are so tensed and you chilling in your room?"Ma yelled.

'Relax ma it's okay.It was my marriage,my life and so off course my decision.I took a right step else would have to curse myself for rest of my life."she took tbe last sip from the bottle.

"Will you please give tell me the reason for this step?You have been in relationship with Anuj since past five years.What happened?"Ma was confused.

"Well Ma this all started the day we decided to get married.His mom asked me to reduce my weight.I followed her advice and grilled myself in gym.Then came series of suggestions for enhancing my complexion.I kept mum and followed her.But somewhere I was not content.I felt suffocated and pressurized.But my spirit gave up when Anuj asked me to go for surgery so that I looked proper in my bridal attire.I told him that I was like this since we started dating and he never had an issue with my body.He explained that he is spending heavily on my bridal lehnga and wanted me to look the best.

Ma I realised that he didn't love me.My body is prior to him than my soul and my heart.I thought a lot about the pros and cons.But I knew I won't be able to go ahead for long under such pressure.So I called him up and informed .'Shadi cancelled'.Now find some girl to fit in your ten lakhs lehnga.Am I right ma?"Anu winked.

Ma hugged her and kissed her forehead,"Proud of you Anu."

"Don't know what to do now Ma."Anu sighed.

"Pack your bags and we'll go together to Maldives...your honeymoon tickets won't get wasted."They both laughed their heart out.
