Ethical issues present in commercial  

advertisement: 

i)Promoting objectification of women: The ads promote sexist attitude, compromising 

the human dignity. Example: Ads of men perfumes, bikes etc. 

ii)Promote stereotyping: Stereotyping of class, gender, race, looks, age is done without  

any rational thought. Example: Ads of beauty creams, weight-loss, fairness creams etc. 

iii)Lack of integrity: There is no consistency in claims and reality about the use of  

products. Example: Food products, Personal care products etc. 

iv)Prevalence of non-transparency: Lack of mechanism to crosscheck the claims and  

promises done, badly moved content away from the reality. 

v)Fueling Consumerism: Tendency towards material wellbeing and westernization are  

promoted. 

vi)Misuse of Creditworthiness: Use of youth icons, sportsmen, actors, are shown to  

endorse the product whereas in reality they don’t use it.
