It was the twentieth minute after I began crying in the washroom,
My strained eyes were peering into the gloom
It was the nineteenth time I decided I wouldn't cry
For the eighteenth time I wiped my tears untill my countenance felt dry
For the seventeenth time, I wondered why
I couldn't understand whether life was a truth or a lie
My heart was filled with mixed emotions of excitement and fear.
I remember I was in my sixteenth year.
I wanted to discover the hidden meaning,
Sitting on the fifteenth step, my thoughts felt revealing.
I stepped up to look beyond the ceilings.
For the fourteenth time I dived into my feelings.
I contemplated the thirteenth reason why I cried.
The one that made me wish that I had died.
For the twelfth time I wiped my tears
Stepped up higher to face my fears
On the eleventh step from the top
My venture to discover the truth wouldn't stop
Moving from tenth to the ninth step,
Seeking answers to the question within my heart kept.
The eighth gulp of saliva I sipped,
The seventh step I skipped.
Getting glimpses of pictures of sixth-grade,
While some memories appeared to fade.
For the fifth time I took a sigh.
The fourth step was so high.
For the third time I had to make a decision
I tried to find in it a reason
With second thoughts in my mind, I cried.
Not to jump off the height I tried.
I was just about to fall,
When I heard my conscience call.
I decided to live and not to die.
And that day, for the first time in a long time,
I said to myself,
"I wanna live, because life is a truth and not a lie"
