Stuck in traffic, (yes even in small towns)while some people dismantled a thatch to let the vehicle of an overconfident truck driver pass, that's when we saw this woman - Kamala.

The orange pink hue in the sky, as the sun set and boredom called for some tea. My father approached the lady and asked for Tea. Even without thinking she said yes, and surprisingly there was enough tea to serve 4-6 people. She got up instantly and hopped on one leg into the hut to fetch the glasses. She served us tea as hot as the ground beneath us would have been a few hours prior.

She even offered second servings and insisted that we let the glasses be, when we denied.

We learnt that she had lost one leg in her childhood when a tree fell on her foot and more recently her husband a few weeks ago.

She refused any money that we felt obligated to give. After a series of banter, she accepted the money only on the condition that we stop for tea on the way back.

As the traffic cleared and the hut diminished in size, we left her as we found her: Engrossed in her own work, strong and beautiful. Only this time she was cleaning glasses in which she had served tea to complete strangers.

She was as gracious to our company as she looked in her solitude.

It's heart warming to see that there are people who embrace kindness and help people not as though going out of their way, but like it's part of their day.

Such are random acts of kindness! ?
