In terms of residents, India is the second largest country in the world and the female education rate in India is very low. Girl education was a concern in the medieval period in India, although it has now been resolved to a large extent. Education of women has been given a lot of priority in India, such as men to bring some encouraging changes in the community. Earlier women were not allowed to exit the gate of their homes. They were limited only to household chores.

Upliftment of girl child

During the British rule in India, the rise of girl education was mainly done by Raja Ram Mohan Ray and Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. She paid attention to women's education. In addition, some leaders like Jyotiba Phule and Baba Sahib Ambedkar were from lower caste community who took various initiatives to provide education to the women of India. It was with his efforts that after independence the government adopted various measures to provide education to women. As a result, the literacy rate of women has increased since 1947.

Despite the fact that many more women are getting educated and nowadays women are becoming literate, there is a difference between the literacy rate of men and women. If we look at the female literacy rate, the situation is very discouraging. According to a survey only 60% of girls get primary education and further, it comes down to 6% when it comes to higher secondary education.

Factors responsible for low rate of girl education

There are some factors responsible in our Indian society that prevent girls from going to school. Here are:

Meanness.

Distance.

Parents negative attitude.

Inadequate school infrastructure.

Religious factors.

child marriage.

child labour.

Poverty - Although education is free, there is a huge cost involved in sending children to school. This includes the cost of uniforms, stationery, books, and convents that are too high for a family living below the poverty line. They cannot even afford a day's food, educational expenses are too high. This is why parents prefer to keep their girl at home.

Distance - In many parts of India, an elementary school is located far away from the villages. It takes a long walk of 4-5 hours to reach the school. Considering the safety and other safety factors, parents restrict girls to school.

Insecurity - Girls sometimes face various forms of violence in school. Including violence on the way to school by school teachers, students and others involved in the school environment. So the parents of the girls think that maybe she is not safe at that place so they are forbidden to go to school.

Negative attitude - People usually think that a girl should learn how to cook, how to maintain the house and do household chores as this should be the primary focus of the girl's life. His contribution to housework is more valuable than his education.

Child marriage - In Indian society, there are still cases of child marriage. A girl is forced to marry at an early age and is often thrown out of school at an early age. Due to early marriage, she becomes pregnant at an early age and thus spends all her time devoted to the child and no time for studies.

Child labor - This is also a major reason for girls to refuse studies. Working at a young age and earning are the main factors responsible for not studying. Due to poverty, parents force girls to work at an early age, so girls are prohibited from studying.

Religious Factors - India is a vast country and includes various religions. Some religious practitioners also prohibit girls from being educated. According to him, it is against religion.

………………………………………………….

There is a great need to educate parents about the benefits and benefits of girl education. It is not only the duty of the government, but it is also our responsibility to educate the people around us. The best thing is that our P.M. Through the Bac Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign in the villages, very good initiatives have been taken in the direction of girl education. According to him, if we want to see our country develop, then we must educate all girls.
