Bidadi is not a part of Bangalore, Geographically. But, you will find many youngsters from Bangalore hanging out in Bidadi, during the weekends.
Bidadi is famous for their “Thatte Idli”. Idli is a type of a rice cake, Thatte Idli is a bit bigger in size. On the Bangalore-Mysore highway, one can find many small hotels serving these Idlis along with Vada. They are yummy pretty much in every hotel on the road.
I have travelled several times to Bidadi, just to have these Idlis. And it kind of is a ‘Weekend Thing’. The drive is what I enjoy, more than the food. Mainly because there is no traffic and I usually take the NICE road route. Pleasant music and good company helps you make lovely memories. And if it rains, consider yourself lucky. The scenery is beautiful. I have even heard a few of my friends take a train from Bangalore to Bidadi. Just for the fun of it.
For those who keep complaining about Bangalore’s busy lifestyle. I suggest you make a plan with your friends for the next weekend and explore Bangalore and it’s outskirts. It’s any day better, than just hanging out in the busy pubs.
Note : I haven’t suggested a particular place as such for the Idli. Because I find it good in each place in Bidadi. However, you can stop at any place where too many cars have been parked. They are mostly travellers from Bangalore.
