World Mental Health Day
Open Letter on World Mental Health Day -October 9, 2025
Dear Friends and Fellow Humans,
Today, on World Mental Health Day, we come together across the globe not just to acknowledge mental health but to honor it as an essential part of our humanity. Mental health is not a whispered secret nor a solitary struggle—it is a collective responsibility and a shared experience that unites us all.
In a world that often moves too fast and demands too much, it is easy to overlook the quiet battles fought beneath seemingly calm surfaces. Yet, every mind has a story—of resilience, pain, hope, and healing. Today, we pause not in silence but in understanding, recognizing that mental health is as vital as physical health and as deserving of compassion as any other form of well-being.
To those facing mental health challenges, please know you are not alone. Your feelings are valid, your struggles are real, and your courage—even in the smallest acts—is profound. You are not defined by your wounds or your darkest days, but by your strength to seek light and growth. There is no shame in reaching out, no weakness in seeking help.
To families, friends, and communities: your support, patience, and empathy can be the lifeline that makes all the difference. Listen without judgment, stand without condition, and love without expectation. Together, we can create a world where mental health care is accessible, stigma is shattered, and every person can heal and thrive.
Let this day be a renewed commitment — to speak openly, to act kindly, and to build systems that nurture mental wellness for all. Our minds deserve mornings filled with hope, gardens growing under sunlight, and the freedom to bloom fully.
With hope and solidarity,
Dr. Riddhima Bose
